Gastroenterologist consultation fee
We offer both virtual and face-to-face appointments. Fees for each are the same. All payments are taken upfront at the time of booking.
Here are the costs you can expect as a self-pay patient:
- New gastroenterology consultation: £325 (£390 at the Mayo Clinic)
- Follow-up gastroenterology consultation: £275 (£365 at the Mayo Clinic)
- Second opinion gastroenterology consultation: £375

What is the cost of an endoscopy?
At Digestive Health UK, we offer fixed-price endoscopy packages for self-pay patients. Exact prices may differ depending on the complexity of the procedure. Here, we have provided the approximate costs.
- Diagnostic endoscopy (gastroscopy): £1,650-£1,850
- Colonoscopy: £2,000-£2,350
- Combined gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedure: £2,550-£2,750
- Combined gastroscopy and BRAVO pH capsule procedure: £2,700-£2,800
Fees include hospital costs, doctor’s fees, accessories, and biopsy costs. Rarely, there may be extra fees if complex pathology tests or additional treatments are needed. Polyp removal at the Mayo Clinic site may also include extra fees.

Fees for other services
Costs for other tests, such as blood tests, stool tests, and scans, can vary significantly and are set by the main hospital, not by our clinic. Please contact the main lab directly for quotes on the latter tests.
Patients with insurance
Our doctors are fee-assured providers. They work with all insurance companies.
We work within the published fee schedules of the UK private health insurance companies. There are a wide variety of private health insurance schemes available.
Some insurance schemes mean you may have personal liabilities. For example, your plan may include an agreement to pay a proportion of all fees.
Please ask your insurer about any additional fees and what they will cover. We will ask you for your insurer’s name, membership number, and authorisation code at the time of booking.
If your insurer is not UK-based, we may ask that you pay us directly and make a claim for repayment through your insurer.
Referral to the NHS
If you are a private patient with the practice, we can provide a clinic letter for your records.
You can take this letter to your GP and request any necessary tests and treatments that can be done within the NHS.
Any appointment waiting times whilst on the NHS, access to an NHS GP, and their acceptance for referral are out of our control.
