Voice therapy
Everyone will experience times when their voice changes or loses strength due to damage, laryngitis or another condition. If problems persist you should seek a doctor’s advice.
You may be referred to an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist or a speech and language therapist (SLT) depending on whether the cause is medical (disease or anatomical injury) or a different kind of imbalance.

Changes in muscle tone of the voice box, the formation of vocal nodules or stress and anxiety can also cause vocal issues. In digestive health, acid reflux from conditions such as gastro-oesophageal reflux disease may lead to hoarseness.
Voice therapy comes in a variety of forms, depending on the problem that needs treatment, its cause, severity and your age. The types range from breathing and relaxation exercises, to optimising your vocal technique, a dietary programme to relieve acid reflux or post-operative voice training.
